Forgotten Spaces was a creative programme for the Imagine Belfast Festival 2023 that focused on our collective imagination for the city. It was curated and led by Meadhbh McIlgorm as a development of her Liminal [space] Belfast project.

The online exhibition which showed over the month of March 2023 had close to 60 submissions spanning most of the city – there was surprisingly little duplication, barring a few notorious and well known spots but even at this – people had different ideas for what they could become and why. At festival week, the site had almost 2,000 unique visitors and if you are here now, it’s still getting traction.

How to Regenerate Forgotten Spaces?’ was a discussion event and prize giving during the Imagine! Belfast Festival 2023 for the Forgotten Spaces project. Wednesday March 22nd at the Europa Hotel.

We heard from Meadhbh McIlgorm (Curator for Forgotten Spaces) (4mins - 21mins) Sean Dolan, Senior Development Manager, Belfast City Council (23mins - 42mins) Seamus Connolly, Group Manager, Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability, Glasgow City Council (43mins - 1.06) The event was chaired by Chris McCracken from the Linen Quarter Bid who sponsored the event.
